The art of hand-smocking is so wonderfully nostalgic and timeless that it lends itself perfectly to heirloom pieces. And nothing feels quite so evocatively nostalgic as the tradition of hanging Christmas stockings and laying out festive sacks on Christmas Eve. The giddy excitement at the prospect of a visit from Father Christmas and the goodies that will fill the stocking/sack come Christmas morning.
Following our successful Smock London x edit58 Lampshade Collaboration and having seen how well received Smock London’s Festive Nightwear collection has been – we naturally wanted to create beautiful heirloom festive stockings and sacks that incorporate hand-smocking on traditional fabrics. Pieces that age with a child and remain part of their festive experience for the rest of their life. Equally, what adult doesn’t wish for a beautiful stocking to hang?
We are therefore thrilled to introduce our exclusive range of Smock London x edit58 ‘Smockings’ and “Smocked Sacks’ for the 2024 festive season.
Our 'Smockings' and 'Smocked Sacks' are available in 3 designs. This listing is for our Red gingham stocking with off white frill, Vichy lining and red ribbon smocking, as pictured.
Each ‘Smocking’ (£50) can be personalised, should you wish to add this service to your purchase for an additional fee. You can select to personalise in one of three ways;
1. Large initial on the main body of the 'Smocking' in white thread (+£20)
2. Monogram on the ruffled frill in red thread (+£30) - please note, due to the ruffle design the monogram will fall between ruffles and will not sit ‘flat’ / be fully visible from afar. We feel this only adds to the charm of the piece.
3. Full first name (up to 8 Characters) on the frill in red thread (+£30). First names will be embroidered with a capital first letter and the rest lowercase.
Personalisation will be carried out by our our Head Embroidery Elf, Polly Iannaccone of ‘Nonna’s Napkins’ in a classic chainstitch font (please see example alphabet for how each letter will be embroidered). Embroidery on the frill will be right aligned with the 'boot' of the smocking kicking to the left side (as per images).
Embroidery will be carried out in Santa’s Workshop across November, with personalised orders being dispatched at the beginning of December 2024. Guaranteed delivery by 10th December 2024.
Non-personalised orders will be dispatched mid-November 2024.
