At edit58 we love nothing more than dressing our bed/sofa/bench seat in beautiful fabric. There's a lot to be said for adding a final flourish to pull a room together and create a cosy, layered space. We regularly use vintage Kantha's or vintage fabric - but wanted to create something ourselves that could serve the same purpose.
When we sourced this special double-sided quilted Indian cotton, we knew it had to be turned into a quilted throw. On one side is a unique floral hand block print in dark brown on a light tan background. On the other, a hand blocked paisley print in dark brown on a light tan/cream background. In between a thin layer (this is not a squishy quilt!) of cotton wadding, with a quilted stitch in a diamond shape to hold everything together. We wanted the stitch element to be a feature of the piece, so have hand-stitched a spice red binding around the quilt edge, in an oversized visible running stitch that adds to the rustic, homely feel of our cosy quilt.
Each quilt is made and hand finished by Agota Balint (AB) and is approx 220cm x 100 cm, meaning it works perfectly at the bottom of a King bed (please note it does not cover the full bed), or can be used on a single bed, laying along the full length. We also adore using our throw/quilt over the back of a sofa, so it can be pulled off and snuggled as and when.
Not only for the cold winter months, this throw/quilt would be perfect to use al fresco on outdoor seating when the weather warms up.

The cloth is handmade and hand dyed - so susceptible to irregularities in the print and weave. This we see as part of their charm and are not classed as flaws.
Care: Due to the hand dyed nature of the material please wash at 30 degrees and add a handful of table salt to the washing machine drum.
